Is on-campus housing at SFA worth the cost for transfers?

I'm transferring to Stephen F. Austin State University and trying to decide between on-campus housing and an off-campus apartment. A student review said: “Living in the dorms as a transfer was weird because everyone was 18. I felt old.” Another said: “The transfer community is small, but the Transfer Center helps connect you.” I'm 21 and worried about feeling out of place. Is it easier to make friends off-campus? Or will I be even more isolated? For SFA transfers, what's your housing advice? I'm also worried about the cost – dorms seem expensive for what they are. 🏠

The social events, the RAs, the programming — all aimed at 18-year-olds figuring out college. You're 21. You've already figured out how to be a student.

I live off-campus with two other transfers. We found each other through a Facebook group. We cook together, study together, and don't have to share a bathroom with 30 strangers.

Don't let FOMO drive you into the dorms. The transfer community exists. It's just off-campus. 🤝
