How do I find transfer-friendly clubs at SFA?

I'm transferring to SFA and worried about finding my community. A student review said: “The Transfer Center is helpful, but you have to seek it out. They don't come to you” . Another said: “Joining a club that matches your major is the fastest way to make friends” .

I'm a business major, so I'm looking at the Student Business Association and Women in Business. A review mentioned that “the business school has a strong community” and “professors know students by name” .

Another tip from a transfer student: “Go to the involvement fair at the start of the semester. Sign up for everything that interests you, then see what sticks” .

I'm also curious about transfer-specific events. Does SFA have a transfer orientation or welcome week? A reviewer said: “I went to transfer orientation and met two people I still talk to” . For current SFA students, what clubs or groups were most welcoming to transfers? I want to hit the ground running.

Current SFA student here (not a transfer). The most welcoming clubs I've seen for transfers are the academic ones, not the social ones. Social clubs can feel clique-y if you didn't rush as a freshman. Academic clubs like the Business Student Association are focused on professional development, so people are there to network and help each other. Transfers fit right in.

Also: check out the Transfer Student Association. They do coffee hours, game nights, stuff specifically for transfer students. It's small but it's a good place to start.
