Why I'm leaning toward SFA after reading transfer reviews

When I decided to transfer to Stephen F. Austin State University, I was nervous. I'd be leaving my community college friends and starting over as a junior. But after reading student reviews, I'm actually getting excited.

The sense of community is real. Multiple reviews mention that SFA has a “small school feel” despite being a university. One student wrote: “Professors know your name. People smile at you on campus. It's not like the big schools where you're invisible.” For a transfer student, this is huge.

The Transfer Center is a resource. I found a review from a transfer student who said: “The Transfer Center helped me figure out which credits would transfer and connected me with other transfers. I wasn't alone.” Another said: “They have a transfer student organization that meets monthly.” Knowing there's a dedicated office for people like me is reassuring.

Nacogdoches itself is a factor. A student review said: “It's a small town, but there's enough to do. Coffee shops, local restaurants, outdoor activities.” Another said: “If you want a big city, this isn't it. But if you want a community where you can focus on school, it's perfect.”

The business school has good reviews. One student wrote: “The professors actually have industry experience. They're not just academics.” Another said: “The career center helped me get an internship that led to a job offer.”

I'm still nervous about housing and making friends, but I'm no longer worried that SFA will feel cold or impersonal. It sounds like a place where transfers can find their footing. For other students considering SFA, what's your experience been? I'd love to hear more.
